Humanities Liaison Officers
CALL FOR CCHA CAMPUS HUMANITIES LIAISON OFFICERS
Help Promote the Humanities and Humanities Faculty Nationally and
Locally
The Community College Humanities Association (CCHA), in an attempt to
better serve its members and strengthen the humanities in the nation’s
community colleges, has developed a National Humanities Liaison Officer
Program. Please consider taking on the important role of CCHA Humanities
Liaison Officer at your college. Your help would be immensely valuable
to all humanities faculty and humanities administrators on your campus,
as well as to CCHA and your college, and you would receive several
benefits from CCHA for your efforts.
Duties and Requirements of Being a CCHA Humanities Liaison Officer
Being an individual member of CCHA is the only requirement. Regarding
duties, periodically you will receive an email from the CCHA National
Humanities Liaison Officer Program Coordinator Jeff Clausen that will
list various opportunities for humanists at your institution—such things
as the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH ) funded summer
institutes and workshops, grants supporting humanities faculty and
humanities curriculum, as well as information about the annual fall
national and divisional CCHA conferences. This information will come
with a summary of these opportunities and activities, along with links
to the relevant sites, and all you will be asked to do is forward this
email (with an optional personal note from you) to humanities faculty,
including adjunct faculty, and administrators at your institution. In
addition, in your role as CCHA Humanities Liaison Officer at your
institution, you could sponsor some sort of spring event for humanists
at which you could talk about the benefits and opportunities of
participating in CCHA.
Benefits of Being a CCHA Humanities Liaison Officer
You will be among the first to be informed of these various
opportunities for faculty in the humanities. In addition, your will have
a reduced registration fee for all national and divisional CCHA
conferences. And, in an effort to keep you more informed about the
various opportunities for humanists and activities of CCHA, you will be
invited to the Past and Present Officers and Liaison Officers Breakfast
Meeting that occurs at all the national and divisional conferences.
How to Become the CCHA Humanities Liaison Officer at Your College
You can contact the National Humanities Liaison Officer Program
Coordinator Jeff Clausen and ask him to send
you an appointment form. This form is filled out by your president and
then sent to the CCHA national office. Jeff can also answer any other
questions you might have about the Humanities Liaison Officer Program.
The Community College Humanities Association is the only national
organization whose sole purpose is to strengthen the humanities in the
nation's community colleges. Your efforts as the Humanities Liaison
Officer for your college can help further this goal for you, your
college, and your fellow humanities faculty and administrators.
